About Company :

The company began commercial operations in Nhava Sheva in 2005. It now owns and manages Container Freight Stations (CFSs) in Nhava Sheva (JNPT), Mundra, Hazira, and Chennai. It has its own Multi-Modal Rail Linked Logistics Park at Palwal, which is close to Delhi. It is also present in all major Indian ports. The company delivers additional value added services by providing first and last mile road connectivity from/to the customer's door. It is one of the few private companies with a pan-India licence for container train operations. In April 2007, the company also began rail operations.

Roles and Responsibilities :

  • Procurement Strategy Development: Develop and implement procurement strategies tailored to the marine shipping industry, considering the unique requirements of both CAPEX and OPEX procurement, as well as the Maintenance and Repair division.
  • Vendor Identification and Selection: Identify potential suppliers and vendors through market research and industry networking, evaluating their capabilities, reliability, and cost-effectiveness to ensure alignment with company standards and objectives.
  • Contract Negotiation and Management: Negotiate favorable terms and conditions with suppliers and vendors, including pricing, delivery schedules, and quality standards, while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Maintenance and Repair Procurement: Oversee procurement activities related to the Maintenance and Repair division, including sourcing spare parts, equipment, and services necessary for vessel upkeep and operational efficiency.
  • Budget Planning and Control: Develop and monitor procurement budgets for CAPEX and OPEX, analyzing budget variances, identifying areas for cost reduction, and providing regular reports and updates to senior management.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify and mitigate procurement-related risks, such as supply chain disruptions, price fluctuations, and quality issues, to minimize impact on operations and ensure continuity of business operations.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes and workflows to enhance efficiency, streamline operations, and optimize resource utilization, leveraging technology and automation where applicable.

Competencies :

  • Strategic Planning: Ability to develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals, focusing on cost optimization, quality assurance, and risk mitigation.
  • Vendor Management: Proficient in identifying, evaluating, and negotiating with suppliers and vendors to establish beneficial partnerships, ensuring timely delivery of goods and services while maintaining cost efficiency.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of marine engineering principles and practices, with the ability to procure both capital expenditures (CAPEX) and operating expenditures (OPEX), including spare parts and services for the Maintenance and Repair division.
  • Analytical Skills: Capable of conducting cost analysis, budgeting, and financial forecasting to identify cost-saving opportunities, optimize procurement budgets, and mitigate procurement-related risks.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Engineering, and Finance, to understand their procurement needs and requirements.

Preffered Experience Highlights :

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, with X years of experience in procurement within the maritime or shipping industry.
  • Proven track record in procuring both CAPEX and OPEX, with a focus on the Maintenance and Repair division.
  • Strong negotiation skills and vendor management experience, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Familiarity with marine engineering principles and practices, as well as relevant regulations and standards.
  • Proficiency in cost analysis, budgeting, and financial management, with experience in developing and monitoring procurement budgets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
